E-Diary and Booking System
Design Brief
The Academic Skills and Learning Centre at the Australian National University needed an electronic solution to replace an outdated paper diary and booking system. The new diary needed to be accessible by many staff both on and off campus without compromising the security of the system. It also had to store and archive student data for future consultations and statistical reporting.
Solution
Kudasai developed an online diary and booking system that completely replaced the existing paper based process.
Major consideration was given to layout of the diary as staff needed to be able to switch between their own personal weekly calendar view, and a Centre-wide calendar.
The system collects targeted data about the students that can be reviewed prior to a student consultation, to ensure that the highest quality advice can be offered.
Many advanced options were developed for the system such as:
- the ability to book recurring appointments
- automatic reminder emails sent to students regarding upcoming appointments
- the creation of groups to quickly create a single event that applied to a number of specified staff
Encryption is used across the entire system as well as several other server based technologies to ensure data security.
